Unlocking

Users love Superhuman Mail, but leave when it comes to scheduling.

Bringing clarity to crowded team schedules through adaptive layouts and custom view controls.

Team scheduling had a deeper problem:
people couldn't read their own week.

Superhuman Mail helps power users manage their inbox and schedule events through fast workflows powered by keyboard shortcuts.

Within the Calendar pod, I set out to solve shared availability, but realized there was a deeper problem underneath—people needed to be able to read their weekly schedule before they could coordinate with a team. I designed and delivered four view controls to bring clarity to dense, overlapping schedules.

Final designs are still being finalized: some are under NDA, others were in progress when my internship ended. However, the process and reasoning behind each is shared throughout. Feel free to email kyrenetam@gmail.com to learn more!

TIMELINE

Jun 2026 - Aug 2026

TOOLS

Figma, Claude Code

CONTEXT

Every guest you add becomes another column inside the same day.

Guests slot into your week, so one fixed view carries every schedule at once.

1

Only a seven-day grid, with no day or month toggle.

2

You can only read one person's schedule at a time, by hovering.

3

Guests and Find Time feature live in this panel.

THE PROBLEM SPACE

Users love Superhuman Mail, but then leave to schedule.

Six interviews and the team's existing research showed me what the two problems in my scope actually looked like in use.

1

Hard to read

"The events become blobs where you can't see any details or context."

-ELMORE, CHAN ZUCKERBERG INITIATIVE

2

Struggles to find shared time

“I use Google Calendar because it’s easy to search for availability."

-CANDACE, SUPERHUMAN

RESCOPING

Find Time had no one to find time for.

Six of six interviewees couldn't read a week with only three guests added, so they left to schedule on Google Calendar or Outlook instead.

I reprioritized my scope and proposed four view controls ahead of it, each independently shippable. My design manager, PM, and engineers agreed with the new sequence, then reordered the four features.

THE SOLUTIONS

Four new views that bring

focus

to a crowded week

Hide Weekends, Hide Sidebar, and Day View are built on patterns familiar from tools like Google Calendar and Outlook. Final screens for these three are still being refined post-internship, so they're not included yet.

Expand a Day is a new feature, and its final design is under NDA.
